Canadian Online High School offers a variety of language courses for students to choose from. Our main focuses are English and French courses, including the Grade 10 Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT).

English courses can be taken at both the Applied and Academic levels from Grades 9 through 12. Additional courses that will strengthen your learning in the language courses include Writer’s Craft and Presentation and Speaking Skills.

Students need to take the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test to meet the requirements for an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). Students may take the test up to two times. If the student fails both times, the principal may suggest that the student enroll in the Ontario Literacy Credit Course (OLC40). This course allows the student to learn the literacy skills they need in Ontario. The Ontario Literacy Credit Course is then counted towards the student’s diploma instead of the Literacy Test.

The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test is only available to take in the Spring each year. The test must be taken on the day it is scheduled by the examination office and cannot be rescheduled.

To find out more information about each literacy course, click through the course PDFs according to your grade level. If you need more information about the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test or the Ontario Literacy Credit Course, please check out the Grade 10 courses where both are listed. Each will have the information you need to know.
